I know what you're thinking, "But, I can't come up with a riff that's 4 bars long!" No problem. Let's say your riff is one bar in duration. All you need to do is play your one bar riff-one bar of A5-repeat your one bar riff-one bar A5-then on to ! bar D5-1 bar E5....and repeat....etc....Now you're really rockin'! There's No Limit to What Scales You Use You Don't have to confine yourself to Minor Pentatonic For the example I illustrated above, I used the minor pentatonic scale because most people are familiar with it and it's sound and can work with it comfortably. If you prefer, you can use Major Pentatonic, Dorian Minor, Major Scale...what ever you like the sound of, to create your riffs. Obviously, there's no need to confine yourself to Power chords either. Use what ever chords suit the scale you decide to work with. Another thing to keep in mind, is that the riff doesn't have to be at the beginning of your chord progression. You can put the riff anywhere you like! It's your song! You could also use a riff to represent any of the chords in your progression. It doesn't always have to be the I chord. Change it up, and have fun! Selling out every place they play. They’re trying to setup a tour with collective soul, but no word on that yet. When you’re scrambling through the papers looking for michael jackson, you turn on the television and you don’t see music videos anymore, you turn on your internet to connect with bands and the most popular movie stars just to find out that you’ve got to hear some of their new songs, it is killer great awesome, and I mean totally dude! I go to their website every week to see if new songs or video have been posted. I love that song they sing called lullabye baby, been so long, navigator, ludicrous. Do, I do believe that collective soul’s producer worked with imre on some of the songs. lullabye - vocals, been so long - vocals, guitars, navigator - vocal harmonies, ludicrous - vocals screaming and guitar. Those guitars with a dreamy feel to it, love those. He’s also worked with duran duran, john cate, coby grant, the band "I" broke up I guess, they were a tight band, he’s used marshall amps and tuned them in the studio. Anthony produces, karyadi engineers and they mixed the "hollywood" song on afterwords collective soul.
